Trane Furnaces

If you’re wondering how long a furnace lasts or ready to replace it, Dr HVAC recommends Trane furnaces to all our customers.

Why? For six years in a row, Trane have been voted the most Reliable HVAC Brand in North America. Headquartered in Texas and manufactured throughout the USA, Trane spend more time testing their products than other HVAC manufacturers.

At the SEET (Systems Extreme Environmental Test) lab in Tyler, Texas, Trane products are put through 16 weeks of freezing cold and blistering hot temperatures, in repeating two-week sessions. By putting their heating and cooling units through 5 years worth of wear and tear in the matter of a few months, they reinforce their philosophy of making products you can truly rely on.

Dr HVAC is a Certified Trane Comfort Specialist. In order to be awarded this status, we had to demonstrate best-in-class customer service and technical prowess. To maintain this status, we must participate in quarterly Trane technical training, as well as surpass expectations during random installation audits as performed by Trane Factory Service Representatives. Our focus on customer satisfaction has been recognized by the Trane Territory Manager for the GTA.

Dr. HVAC technicians installed a Trane furnace and a Trane air conditioner in my house last April. They were very competent in their work and respectful in dealing with us. The office staff are also very kind and do their best to timely respond to the customer requests. Both units have performed very well so far. I highly recommend Dr. HVAC to anyone looking for a new furnace or air conditioner.

Features And Benefits: What They Mean

AFUE is shorthand for “annual fuel utilization efficiency rating”. This is defined as the amount of fuel (in percent) that is converted into heat your home can use. The higher the number the better.

Today, the minimum allowable AFUE rating in Canada for an indoor gas Furnaces is 90%. A “high efficiency” furnace must be 90% AFUE or better. In order to qualify for the Energy Star certification in Canada, a furnace must have an AFUE of 95% or better, and other efficiency technologies.

A gas valve controls the flow of gas into the burner of your furnace, where it ignites to create heat. The type of gas valve plays a huge role in the overall efficiency of the furnace.

Single stage gas valves can only be off or on. This will mean the overall amount of fuel used is more than with a multi-stage valve. This is because the temperature in your home will be allowed to vary more, and your furnace will have to work harder to warm up your home.

A multi-stage (or fully modulating) gas valve will adjust the amount of fuel going into your furnace more precisely. If your home is colder, it allows more fuel to flow, but if it’s just a little bit below the temperature setting on your thermostat, just a small amount of fuel flows. This not only saves fuel, but it keeps the temperature in your home more even. It can also reduce long-term wear and tear on the part.

A two-stage furnace is a simpler type of multi-stage furnace. It’s more efficient than a single stage, but not as good as a fully modulating gas valve.

The blower forces air through the heat exchanger in your furnace, resulting in the spread of hot air into the ductwork and then out into your home.

As with gas valves, a variable-speed blower motor is more efficient than a single speed or 2-4 speed. This is because making smaller adjustments all the time uses less energy in the long run than constantly starting and stopping.
